Laura Young Kilkenny is a certified yoga teacher and has been teaching since 2008. She uses effective alignment to avoid injury, heal, and open your body, and incorporates pranayama and meditation to offer a comprehensive practice - so that whether you come to your mat for the physical release of a deep stretch, for the mental and emotional release of stress, or to find a connection to something much bigger than yourself, the yoga always meets you where you are. Laura believes mindful engagement of breath and body in your yoga practice is a reflection of your intention, and how we build the poses in our practice can be seen as a metaphor for the spiritual journey we’re on.

“I approach yoga as a medium for deep personal transformation, and it was through ongoing study with a local teacher that my practice developed into a haven for insight, deep listening, and empowerment for creating change. I teach because I know the power of the practice; I know it holds the keys to awareness, and awakening, and joy. Each students’ path is their own, and I guide my students through movement which evokes a deeper awareness and connection with that inner landscape. My great joy is to open the door and invite you into an exploration of your own practice.”

Laura is an E-RYT 200, RYT 500 teacher, having studied in the Anusara Yoga, and Ashaya Yoga traditions. She has steadily worked to expand her knowledge and practice of hatha yoga with advanced studies and trainings in yoga asana, anatomy, yoga therapy, chakra yoga, and rajanaka philosophy, and she lovingly acknowledges her many teachers. She lives in Redding, CT with her husband, daughter, their Rhodesian Ridgeback, and two kitties, and in spare moments can be found digging in her vegetable garden, hiking, cooking, and writing.
